We’re
not necessarily suggesting that brands and businesses start to post a
ton of Stories content just for the sake of posting, but the data shows
that you can increase both median reach and median impressions by
posting more content on Instagram Stories.
This
makes Instagram the third most popular social media network, following
only Facebook (over 2 billion monthly active users) and YouTube (1.9
billion monthly active users).
This
study of the Instagram feeds of 27 professional athletes from a range
of sports, which was published in the Journal of Broadcasting &
Electronic Media, found that despite conventional wisdom suggesting that
men are traditionally framed with closer headshots for power and women
from more of a distance, in their self-presentation, both male and
female athletes tended to post photos that showed their full bodies.
Finally,
to ensure you can view relevant traffic stats, deploy analytics
software to glean insights on which Instagram content is driving traffic
to your website so you can target your campaign further. Posting,
viewing, and interaction habits tend to be quite different on Instagram
compared to other social networks, making it slightly harder to pinpoint
when users are most active.
So,
when it came to finding the best Instagram strategy, I turned to social
media studies. I read through more than 20 studies on Instagram
marketing from companies like Facebook, Simply Measured, and News Whip.
If
you want to increase your Instagram reach and engagement, use hashtags
and location tag if possible. After studying more than 65,000 social
media posts, TrackMaven found that nine hashtags seem to be the optimal amount for getting the maximum engagement.
Although
it joined the game a bit later than some of the other popular social
networks (Instagram launched on October 6, 2010 while Facebook started
in 2004, Twitter in 2006 and Pinterest in January of 2010), Instagram
certainly has made a name for itself in the industry.
