Great Bloggers

Bloggers Really Need This To Be Great Bloggers

Over the years, a lot of bloggers and marketers have done research to see how different types of headlines perform in comparison to others, and they’ve found some clear trends in what people choose to click on.

People like to be part of a group, and retailers have a unique opportunity to foster community through their physical space. The one on the left offers suggestions for people who like Game of Thrones (the series just ended at the time) while the one right features book that have movies and TV shows in the works.

No matter how many people I have contacted, it still gives me goosebumps every time I press the send button or every time, I pick up the phone to call to someone. People hate clicking on a link based on the promise of an appealing headline, only to be disappointed in the content that’s actually there.

I’m amazed by how much time people in other industries spend on creating a small piece of art, a small documentary, a short video etc. Hate Copy is an excellent example of a business that was started by an artist putting their art onto things that people can buy.

Put a call to action in there where people can sign up for the book, and grow that email list. Don’t waste time and energy trying to please everyone, start with niche audiences and establish yourself as an expert or source of information people can trust.

Since a truncated headline can result in fewer people clicking your link in SERPs, it’s a common SEO practice to keep your headlines 60 characters or fewer. People get bombarded by so much content these days, you have to go the extra mile to make your content stand out by providing more information plus new findings (if possible) plus add a fun twist to it to make it engaging by adding photos or storyline.

You might be skeptical about the notion of making money playing your favorite games, but if there’s a pattern developing in this list, it’s that if you can get people to pay attention to you, then you can potentially turn it into a profit.

It stands to reason that this will also be the case with people who are looking for your products, so incorporating the results of keyword research into your product names and descriptions can make your handmade goods easier for people to find.

What began as a way for arts and crafts enthusiasts to make a little money on the side has quickly become one of the hottest markets in retail, and consumers are clamoring to get their hands on handmade, artisanal goods made by real people, not fresh off a conveyor belt.

“What started as an idea for creating a craft market-like store has transformed into a central hub for conscious consumers,” said Hope. I share content to help bloggers and small businesses succeed on social media.

Many new bloggers fail because they think that if they spend a lot of time to write an awesome article everyone will stumble upon it and share it on social media and success will come overnight. Share on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google, and Pinterest to promote your post.

I guess on the downside, I could also turn some readers off — I must make sure I add some humor to the post to make it readable and enjoyable, as there is a lesson to be learned from my story and hope for those in similar situations.

Meta's descriptions are the descriptions below the post's page title on Google's search results pages. People knew from the very first post what to expect going forward which helped us build a loyal following (email subscribers) from the get-go.

I think though that the main reason for that is that I don’t decide whether to publish something based on the traction / reception that the post will receive within my audience; instead if I want to publish something, I do so.

I can build my audience all while providing them more amazing content that they would be interested anyway since it's relevant to the topic of my initial post.

Perhaps you effectively explain in the post how people treat love like a captive animal, and it may make for a great analogy, but readers scanning headlines will have no clue why they should stop to read this, and so they likely won’t.

If we have a post from 2013 that is still generating strong numbers, not only is it good for SEO to update and re-publish, but it’s also a way to make sure we’re providing accurate information to our readers.

If they click a headline that reads “7 Easy Tips for Losing Weight Fast”, and the post begins with an amusing Nicolas Cage anecdote, there’s a good chance they will leave — never getting to read the rest of the post, which is filled with weight loss wisdom.

For maximum engagement, make sure to create unique title, write a short but relevant description, use high-resolution images and mention people in your post, if applicable.

Prep your post for publishing by working through a checklist (or a WP plugin) to help you optimize the content — a tool like Naytev works well — and make it appealing to search engines (48 percent of consumers start mobile research with a search engine) and readers.

They are ideally between 150-160 characters and start with a verb, such as “Learn,” “Read,” or “Discover.” While meta descriptions no longer factor into Google's keyword ranking algorithm, they do give searchers a snapshot of what they will get by reading the post and can help improve your clickthrough rate from search.

According to Sarah Owen, senior editor of digital media & marketing at trend forecasting firm WGSN, traveling the world as a lifestyle choice is on the come-up, and so influencers are increasingly sharing content that represents a well-traveled life, rather than just the clothes in their closet in the saturated fashion niche.

In the same way that starting to read more can make you a better writer, starting to more actively pay attention to the titles you encounter in your life and the way you respond to them will get you thinking regularly throughout the day about what works and why.

For those who create any sort of visual art, from paintings to illustrations and more, you can also print out copies of your work to sell online at more reasonable prices. Print-on-demand services offer a low-risk way to monetize your art by selling apparel and home decor.

Dan’s work has appeared in a wide range of publications in print and online, including The Guardian, The Daily Beast, Pacific Standard magazine, The Independent, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, and many other outlets.

This method of production is an easy path to volume plus you can rely on the precision of a laser cut product to be consistent over time. Finally, geometric patterns look great with laser cutting, so we created this coral-inspired design to showcase just how awesome an abstract configuration can look.

In this article, we’ll look at how to make a bookmark for a book and give lots of creative inspiration on crafting personalized bookmarks to use yourself, give to friends and family, sell online or even use promotionally to build your brand.

Whether you host a pop-in-shop, lease out a section of your store long-term, or simply rent displays to local artisans and business owners, you can tap into commercial leasing and retail. In fact, I used to think you couldn’t make money crafting, unless you were exceptionally gifted at your craft or selling stuff in general.

Freelance designer and editor Molly have some mad DIY and crafting skills that translate into the handmade stuff that you wish your friends would give you for your birthday.

Depending on how you direct your talents and interests, you can get anything from free stuff to extra spending money to a full-fledged business or platform for marketing your own or others’ products—all by doing something you might've done anyway.

Too many bloggers hold back the good stuff out of fear of giving away the “secret sauce.” There is no secret sauce in a world where everyone has high speed Internet access at all times. Blogging is an exciting journey, don’t forget to show up every day to do your job on the way to a successful blogger.

We know it’s tempting, but clicking the refresh button every ten seconds on your website’s analytics page fuels an unhealthy obsession that won’t help your success as a blogger (or your blood pressure).

Justin Blackman challenged himself to write over 10,000 headlines over 100 days and found that there was a tangible difference in the quality of his headlines and how quickly he could produce good headlines by the end of his project – which should surprise no one, of course that’s what happens when you commit to practicing something at that level.

Even if you decide against advertising on Instagram, it’s arguably the best image-sharing social media app available, and its integration with Facebook makes it a no-brainer for craft businesses.

You’ll find lots of scrapbook layouts online, but when you adorn a single image with, cut-out letters, colorful tape, colored pencils, paper clips etc., it really draws the viewers eye to your focal point and gives it power.

My philosophy is (and this is what I preach to my clients) your goal should be to create a piece of content on a given topic that makes it the BEST resource on the web that Google has no choice but to rank it.
