Curiosity Stream Reviews

Human Spirit touches on art, literature, and “character values.” Between acquired and original shows, it’s all very comprehensive. If you return to the original video’s page, it also autoplays. The streaming service includes both original and acquired content including those featuring Stephen Hawking, David Attenborough, Richard Dawkins, Peter Diamandis, and Richard Hammond.

Have to power down and restart iPad to continue viewing but will freeze up repeatedly until I reboot. I may even continue with it once our homeschooling is finished because we all enjoy this type of programming, even if it is just for “fun”. The fact that I can't toggle make the app stop streaming after one episode or continue playing is rather annoying. Once a documentary is started you have to watch the whole thing without an interruption otherwise app won't let you continue watching the same documentary, either simply won't start where you left off (doesn't matter how many time you tap continue watching on screen) or app will freeze and do nothing.
I mistakenly signed out my premium account and when I logged in, they asked me to buy another membership. If you are not comfortable giving your logins, you can simply ask your receiver to create an account and give them money to pay for the membership. What you can do is create an account, choose a plan, and pay for the membership. Subscribing to a newsletter indicates your consent to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. I attempted a test drive but found myself hopelessly stuck within the video with no clear or clean way to exit. I found the contest not interesting and decided to unsubscribe, but the "my account" area wasn't working. I found that all the shows and documentaries we watched were very well done. I had NO way to indicate on the sign in page that I had forgotten my password.
The Streamable is reader-supported and may earn an affiliate commission when you sign up with our links. You can sign up below for the free list, print it out and put it in your home school planner for those days you need a little help. It will be charged if you don't cancel your subscription before the end of the trial. I signed up for a trial, then canceled this and deleted the app and now find that I’ve been charged more than 10 times! I signed up for the 7-day free trial, and was charged $19.99 within 2 days.

When John Hendricks founded Discovery Communications more than thirty years ago, he wanted to provide a reliable source of factual content lacking on other cable channels. Consumerism can test the site out for a month for free, but you have to enter credit card information. There is heavy focus on science, nature, history and technology though new shows and series are being added every month. Set preferences to see our top age-appropriate picks for your kids. Common Sense is the nation's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in the 21st century.
Close, you'll have a chance to add more kids later. Already a member? As a subscriber, you can enable Kids Mode which will filter content inappropriate for young children. It’s like my little assistant I can turn on to help me out and help my kids learn–everyone wins. Kids Mode will filter explicit content, disturbing imagery, and explicit sexual content both in nature and in human interaction. You will have to disable Kids Mode to start seeing all titles available on the service. Stephen Hawking’s Favorite Places also got an Emmy nomination this year.

Suddenly now that I’ve been billed for the year, they start running ads at the start of each episode I watch. They have several plans (depending mainly on whether you want HD or Ultra HD), and you can either pay monthly or purchase a year. Overall, we are enjoying the service quite a bit and I have a fairly long list of shows that we will be watching over the rest of this home school year. Hendricks does not bad-mouth Discovery Communications in interviews — he is still a major shareholder — but it is not hard to imagine his frustrations with what the Discovery Channel has become.
Remember when you could turn on Discovery, The Learning Channel, or the History Channel and actually learn something? The content is similar to the type of shows you may find on Discovery, The History Channel, Animal Planet, and The Science Channel. Created by the guy who founded the Discovery Channel, John Hendricks, this so-called "Netflix for nonfiction" lets you watch more than 2,000 science, technology, history, and nature documentaries from anywhere, and on multiple devices.

I don’t personally think the $9.99/mo. price for 4K is worthwhile, unless you have a huge 4K TV and can tell the difference. Downloaded the app to my Samsung TV and that app flat out just doesn't work. I enjoy the content on my smart TV without any issues. Why doesn’t your app allow me to login through my TV provider? This app is available only on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. Integration with Apple TV app is a must, but only if it works. For years, history buff dads have been satisfying their cravings for military lore with dusty old textbooks and the occasional documentary on the three-digit TV channels.
Here, I just access the website through my daughter’s laptop that is plugged into the TV for the big screen. The documentary TV networks of old have heavily invested in cookie cutter reality and entertainment-based programming. As reality TV and pseudo-science displace the factual programming he pioneered, Discovery and its sister channels are not what they once were. Yes, you need to have Xfinity services to use the Xfinity Stream app. As far as I know, most are produced by Curiosity Stream themselves, making them unique. So, when I tried to log in and stream some of your beautifully advertised programs (that I pay for monthly). I just realized that I’ve recommended Curiosity Stream all over Facebook and still haven’t actually written a review.

How can I stream directly from Curiosity Stream on my television opposed to small devices? I had Curiosity Stream on Amazon streaming video for a few months. On both services, it’s difficult to find titles and it appears all the Curiosity Stream content is not available. Family members can stream different shows on up to 4 devices simultaneously. All members of your immediate family can stream different shows at the same time. One of my biggest complaints with Curiosity Stream is the very wide range of playing times. I know that most people tend to look to Netflix, YouTube or Amazon Prime for documentaries, but I really do recommend Curiosity Stream. Stream HD documentaries on a wide range of subjects, from science to history. With more than 1,500 videos available to stream in HD, the $6 monthly subscription could be a great deal for the science, nature, or history fan. Those on the standard plan have access to HD streaming, while those on the premium plan can stream up to 4K.
